Returning to the land of the 4 kings, Raja Ampat!

Mermaid I December 03-12th, 2018

The World’s richest underwatert biodiversity! Over 600 small islands surrounding the four main islands of Misool, Salawati, Batanta and Waigeo. A combination of perfect landscapes and seascapes. Limestone formations, pristine reefs blanked by the softests corals, endemic creatures and possibly the largest schools of fish left on the planet.

West Papua is a far away destination and can be challenging to reach. This is possibly a good reason why all fish decided to hide here. The amount of plankton that flows between Halmahera sea and Ceram sea is another good reason this place is so majestic specially when it comes to Reef and Oceanic manta rays.

1,700 species of fish and more than 600 species of hard corals equaling about 75 percent of known species globally. Rare marine mammals including Blue Whales, Bryde’s, Sperm whales, the less known Omura’s and even sightings of Orcas in Missol area. Raja Ampat is one ultimate destination where all marine life comes together.

This is my 3rd season with Mermaid Liveaboards and this region seems to be getting healthier and fisher year by year, an amazing achievement from the protected marine park and passionated divers involved with marine conservation projects. An exciting season has just began and there will be much more to come, this is Raja Ampat!
